Colic, reflux, or just a fussy baby?

I am a very lucky mummy. Other than getting baby settled at night we have had no real problems with baby Molly.

At four weeks old we have been finding that Molly does not like lying flat on her back and if we do put her down we know that within seconds she will bring up milk and starts screaming. It is horrible to watch and so frustrating as there is nothing much I can do to help her.

We have tried cradling her to sleep but the minute we lay her flat on her back her eyes pop open, milk comes out her mouth and crying starts (unless it has been hours since we fed her and then we can sometimes her down to sleep).

It is not that she will not ever sleep in her moses basket - she has no options as we do not want to co-sleep in our bed - and once sleeping she will sleep six hours so it is not that she won't sleep.

From about two weeks old Molly has been a very noisy sleeper at night. She coughs, splutters, chokes, gags and this only starts when she is lying flat. It sometimes sounds like she has choked and stopped breathing.

What we are not sure now is how to help our wee princess to help her settle to sleep at night when we just can't hold her any longer.
