Tommee Tippie Perfect Prep Machine

When we went to the hospital to give birth we had not envisaged needing to make up bottles to feed our baby as we had decided that we were going to breastfeed. I was against formula feeding and so just assumed we would feed our baby using only my boobs. Unfortunately due to having a complicated birth (caesarean) by milk did not come in when it should have ad so the hospital made me feed my baby with a bottle. This meant, despite our best efforts and that of the midwives and breastfeeding support workers, we had a baby who refused the breast and only accepted a bottle.

Determined to give my baby breast milk I was lucky enough to get a shot of a hospital grade breast pump for a month but even when using this I could only provide my baby with a feed to a feed and a half of milk so we had to resort to making up formula. Gutted.

Our first few days were spent boiling a kettle and letting it cool whilst we had a very unhappy baby crying her heart out because all she wanted was milk and she wanted it instantly - awful when it is the middle of the night and all you want to do it get back to sleep. This resulted in a stressed mummy and daddy who needed to find a solution and as gadget fans we bought the Perfect Prep Machine in the hope that it would help restore harmony in the house.

The Perfect Prep Machine means you can make a bottle of formula milk in next to no time. It says on the box it takes around two minutes but in all honesty I think it is a lot quicker than that.

The longest thing you have to wait for it the original set up of the machine, which requires you to run a cleaning cycle, taking about 15 minutes to do.

You can choose to make a bottle from 4oz to 11 oz, just turn the dial to the desired size and click the big button in the middle. The drip tray can be moved with ease to suit the size of the bottle that you are using meaning if you don't have Tommee Tippie bottles you don't have to rush out to buy them.

The filter in the water storer means you can use water straight from the tap instead of having to boil and cool water which agains cuts down on preparation time. It also ensures that all impurities in the water are removed making it safe for your baby to drink.

Once you have chosen what size of bottle you want to prepare the machine provides a "hot shot" of water which you add your formula to. This kills of any bacteria there is in the powder. Once you have mixed the formula with the water (we just swirl it in the bottle but is says to shake it) you are then ready to click the button again to dispense the rest of the water, creating a perfectly warm bottle of water for a hungry baby in next to no time.

There is no real complicated procedures to this machine. Everything is done on a click of a button and the machine will shine a light to let you know if there is a problem (such as low water, filter needs changed, or you need to run a clean cycle).

Price:

RRP is £99.99 although it tends to sell for less than this at around £74.99-£79.99

You then have to remember that once the filter that comes with the machine needs to be changed you will have to buy another to a cost of £7.99 each time is needs to be replaced.
What is included?:

In the box you will get the Perfect Prep machine (with instructions), a filter, a 150ml bottle with a slow flow teat (perfect for newborns) and a milk storage lid.
Overall:

The machine has been a godsend to us. It has meant that bottles that took 30 minutes to an hour to make now take a matter of minutes. There is no need to prepare feeds in advance and the bottles are a perfect temperature for our baby.
We're going on an adventure
