Bookbug gets them all making a noise in the library

Bookbug breaks all the quiet rules

Shhhhh you are entering the library! Long gone are the days when making a noise in the library was frowned upon, indeed babies are actively encouraged to make as much noise as possible during Bookbug sessions.

I have not attended many baby groups - most of the groups take place in the morning before me and Molly are up - but one I have enjoyed going to regularly is the local Bookbug. It has only been in the last couple of months that we have gone on a weekly basis but already Molly knows where she is and gets so excited.

I am surprised at how quickly she gets to know the songs and has even started to clap in all the right places when singing "Wind the Bobbin Up". She also squeals the minute you start to sing this song which is always great to see and hear.

Other great classics all the children enjoy are "Row, row, row your boat" and "Horsey, Horsery don't you stop".

One of the things she loves to do is people watch and you can see how curious she is of other babies and toddlers. It is great to see her as she analyses each small person with huge amounts of interest. This can only be a good thing as it helps her develop and a few of the children who go will be the same age for school.

At the start of the session the children are given musical instruments which gets even the smallest baby involved. Molly loves anything she can shake and make a noise with so this is great fun for her.

Now she can sit she can be part of the group that bit more as she has more independence - oh and she can roll around as the songs are sung.

Most of the songs are ones you will already know, although there have been a few I didn't know, and so you can sing together at Bookbug and at home.

The best thing about Bookbug is that it is free to attend, great fun, and gets Molly used to being at the library and enjoying it.

Also, even though the groups are free, they also have packs that they hand out for free which contains books, music CDs and information leafets.
