Five of my favourite mum moments

Moments that make me feel more like a mum

Being a mum is everything I ever thought it would be, and more. I have been surprised about some of the things that make me feel more "mummyish" than others as even almost a year on I still can't quite believe I am a mum.

1 - Nothing beats being able to get up at 10 am every morning, other than getting up at 10 am in the morning hearing your baby shouting "HIYA" "MAMA". I mean who wouldn't want to jump out of bed to that? We went through ages of everything being dada so it is nice that she now calls out for me and talks about me even when she can't see me.

2 - Getting soaked by an over excited girl who loves nothing more than splashing in the bath is always a highlight in our week. Nothing ever seems to be too sad or troubling that can not be solved by a splash in the bath. It is a fail safe way of stopping any crying and creating smiles.

3 - Watching your baby master something that otherwise was troublesome or impossible for them to do just the day before is amazing. It amazes me how literally overnight they go from being a million miles away from doing something to mastering it. How?

4 - Tucking my baby in at night, or recovering her in the middle of the night was one of the first things that made me feel like a proper mum, rather than just a babysitter to the most wonderful little girl in the world. There is something so loving and protective about such a simple gesture and seeing my baby asleep and so tranquil looking is brilliant.

5 - It doesn't happen often now but when my daughter falls asleep on me I just love it. I think a moment like that is true love and shows how much she trusts me to be able to do that.

What are your top five mum moments?

What things do you think make you feel more mumsie? Why not share them with me!

Super Busy Mum

Training Mummy

Training Mummy is a 30 something mum to two beautiful children - a girl born February 2014 and a boy born in October 2015.

  1. This is a lovely post. I agree with all of it, but especially the bit about them mastering something they couldn't do yesterday. It always amazes me how sudden their developments are.xx

  2. Lovely post. I love the cuddles and kisses my boy gives me everyday. #MMWBH

  3. Oh, don't get me started on everything being 'dada'. I was expecting Alexander to be talking more by now but we only have a few words - I know all children are different and progress at their own pace, which I fully accept, but honestly, the day he says 'mama' will probably be my happiest. Haha!

One of my favourite moments is when Alexander snuggles; we've been having a lot more mummy/baby cuddles of late due to teething but in general Alexander is usually such a busy bee, sitting down for even more than a couple of minutes is rare!

  4. I can not get my head around how quickly they learn things when we, as adults, take forever.

  5. They are the best aren't they? Thanks for the comment :)

  6. How old is Alexander? I am sure he is doing just fine! I hope he says mama soon for you.
It is rare for Molly cuddles too, she always has ants in her pants.

  7. Love these but am very jealous that you don't get woken until 10am. Mine are up by 6am. Long may it last for you.

  8. Haha I love my long lies. Remember taking M home and realising I was actually gaining sleep and not losing it.

  9. what a lovely post. wow a baby who wakes at 10 am you lucky thing my two are up at 6am x #TheList

  10. If I had to pick my Mummy Moments these would all be there, I would add another 2
    1) making my baby laugh uncontrollably, for some reason this makes me cry!!
    2) the first look at you when you hold your baby, its as if they are saying... ahh so your the mummy!

    Goosebumps! Love this post xxxx
