A day in the rainforest

Follow me: A day in the rainforest by Fisher Price

When I saw this book in the library I thought I would see how we got on with it, as at the moment Molly loves books that require interaction rather than just listening.

This board book encourages little fingers to follow a cut out trail to find various jungle animals, building their hand and eye co-ordination whilst learning the names of different animals.

At first Molly loved just pointing at the animals, finding their names and trying to repeat them back to me. She watched as I traced the path through the jungle and she did try to do it but it was a little too advanced for her at this stage but she did get the point and did rub her fingers over the page in a tracing kind of manner.

The illustrations throughout the book are cute and I loved the colours used as well. There are so many things you can talk about within the little story.

I love that this is a book that required an activity that does not require lifting of flaps and gives us a bit of variation on what we read.

For Molly it is all about the animals. She gets excited with each page turn to see who is on the next page. The animals are, on the whole, recognisable (though could anyone help me with what the white and black striped animal at the bottom left is? We think a white tiger?).

  1. Sounds like a lovely book for little ones. I'd guess a white tiger too - strange choice!

  2. This book sounds like an interesting one and great that it involves the child a bit more too.

I'd go with a white tiger too.

  7. It is a strange choice I kind of skip past it when teaching the animals lol Other than that the book is great.

  8. I love books that let M interact as she has no interest in just sitting and listening.

  13. Looks like a white tiger to me, but the other characters are very familiar from all of fisher price's toys and apps. I like the idea of a traceable trail. I'll have to look out for this one in the library.
