20 week scan - it's a...

...BABY!!!!

Yup we never found out the sex of our baby because we want to keep guessing for another 20 weeks or so. It meant when we went to buy a little something for Button that we failed to find anything we liked and so came home empty handed! Dash.

The ultrasound scan went well. I was so nervous this time but at least I didn't go in to it thinking I would get the worst news possible like I did with M (no idea why I thought that but all was fine obviously).

We had to travel to the hospital we had M in for the scan because the local sonographer was on holiday which meant we had a much longer time to wait when we got there as they were so busy. This didn't help with the nerves but it is unavoidable and at the end of the day we got to find out we have a healthy baby so nothing to complain about.

As I say everything appeared normal. I also found out I had an anterior placenta, not lying low, which would explain why I have only been feeling kicks in the last week or two unlike with M who I had regular kicks from 14 weeks. I have to say this has made me worry so much but now I know there is a good reason I am relieved.

We now have a whirlwind of appointments between having consultant appointments, midwife and then checks every two weeks from 32 weeks onwards. With all the appointments I can see the next 20 weeks flying by and we will soon find out if Button is a boy or a girl.

What sex do you think our baby is?

At the moment we are conflicted in our views on what sex Button is, I think boy and hubby thinks girl, so if you want to guess we would love to accept them.

  1. I'm so glad the scan went well! Oh how rubbish about the consultants appointments, I know how you feel. It's great that you are closely monitored but it's such an inconvenience every couple of weeks. I think it's a baby too, part of me thinks another girl, but then I look at it slightly differently and it looks like a boy. Whatever you have will be a gorgeous bundle of joy xx

  2. I am not bothered what sex it is. A boy would be nice but another girl would be equally as exciting. Can't wait to find out.
The consultant appointments and extra midwife appointments are a necessary evil I suppose. I was very unwell with M at the end without even knowing so getting monitored is a relief to me.

  4. Yay for the scan going well. I find them very stresfful, I guess I keep waiting to be told something doesn't look right! all very exciting anyway.
With D I knew from day one he would be a boy. With E I really didn't know and it was only right towards the end I thought a girl.
Glad you didn't find out then gender, I think the surprise is nice :-)
Hope all continues to go well xx

  5. I couldn't thin of anything more stressful than that scan dates! Go in to them feeling so sick and don't relax until the end and you get told everything appears fine!

  10. Ah, I had an anterior placenta last time and baby's movements were definitely cushioned somewhat. Well done for resisting finding out the gender- we were too impatient three times out of 4! Thanks so much for linking up to #MaternityMatters x x

  11. It was a relief to find out I had the anterior placenta as I had started to panic a little bit. Saying that as soon as I had the scan Button has been kicking regularly.
