Giraffes can't dance!

Giraffes can't dance - Giles Andreae

We picked this book up at a charity shop for 10p so whether it was good or not was not really all that important to us but I had heard great things about it and I can honestly say it is one of my favourites.

It was a few months ago now that we bought this book and it is still a regular feature at bedtime, or indeed anytime as M has taken to carrying it everywhere with her and pointing at Gerald the Giraffe on every page.

Gerald is a giraffe who would love to dance but who gets laughed at by all the other animals when he turned up to the Jungle Dance. In sadness and shame he walks away from the dance, too embarrassed to take part.

He then meets an unusual source who teaches him that anyone can dance if you just find music that you love - and he does, shocking all those who witness him when he shows off his dance moves.

The story moves at a quick pace with rhythm coming from the rhymes of tale which M loves.

The book is beautifully illustrated with nice bold colours, which brings M into the book, and of course there are so many animals in the jungle that we can point at and talk about.

Training Mummy

Training Mummy is a 30 something mum to two beautiful children - a girl born February 2014 and a boy born in October 2015.

  8. My three year old loves this book - when we first got it I think we had to read it solidly for about three weeks! What a great bargain too, I keep meaning to hunt in charity shops for books but I never seem to get the time! #weekendbookclub

  9. This is my favourite favourite children's book. I read it to my son almost every day. I don't think he likes it quite as much as I do. Check out Rumble in the Jungle, Commotion in the Ocean and Monkey Puzzle by the same authors. They are also lovely.

  11. Charity shops are great for books but i tend to find them better for adult books than kids. We were lucky that this was a pop up charity shop on its last day that was for a kids group so mainly kids stuff.
I like how this book just flows do well.
