Rainy day painting

We have a budding artist in the house!

We have had a lot of wet weather days lately and I think M is starting to get a bit bored with being indoors (or going out on walks behind a steamy, unable to see through, rain cover).

When she was younger I tried to do activities with paint and to be honest I think M hates it so I left it alone for a while but as she has started to become more and more obsessed with pens and pencils I thought I would try her with paints again - though I was not expecting much.

At first I put a few dabs of paint on the paper and let her explore it with her fingers. She seemed to love it instantly and was quickly swiping it around the page with her fingers.

We then advanced onto painting the hand, like we had done before when she was little, and tried to see if she would stamp her hands on the paper. Her face lit up - she loved it. I think she loved the different feelings of the paint and the brush on her hands. Of course she saw that I had a brush and wanted to use that.

I think we might have a future Picasso in the house! Little did I know though was that the Tesco paint would dye the high chair and our white dining table :( Such a little thing though when in the long term I get to see her face light up and enjoy painting her little heart out.
