Getting gifts from Wicked Uncle

Great gift ideas and fast delivery

I am always stumped as to what to get kids for Christmas or birthdays and am always looking for ideas from the internet so when I was asked if I would like to review the online toy shop Wicked Uncle I obviously jumped at the chance.

The first thing that I loved (though I know many people will probably moan about) is the fact that the website is set into Boys and Girls sections, then by the age of the child. This I find ideal as I can quickly put in a search for the gender and age of the child I am looking for and find gifts that might be of interest.

Just because the toys are put not sections does not mean the toys are divided so that boys can't have girls toys and vice versa, many of the toys are in both sections it just makes it easier to narrow down your search.

When browsing the site I found so many great gifts and could have spent an absolute fortune on toys for gifts over the course of the year but I don't have a bottomless wallet and so I struggled to narrow my choices down to just a few but for £43 I think I definitely got value for money.

MoodCube (£5.50): I bought this for M as she loves light, It is a 7 cm square box that phases through colours. For £5.50 you certainly can't complain.

Farm touch and feel puzzle (£8.50): Everything I seem to buy for M at the moment involves animals as she loves animals so much at the moment. This is a lovely wooden puzzle that has furry buts on the animals that little fingers can explore. The horse did have marks on the tail but this looks to have been done when the puzzle was made rather than by the shipping process and does' really detract from the toy. Had it been a gift I would have been upset but it is for M so not that important.

Animal Skittles (£14.95): This handcrafted wooden animal skittles set is lovely and bright, coming in a 12 cm with two small wooden balls. M found this in their box and carried them over to me with her cutest smile giving the box kisses (yep she is going through a kissing stage) and was so keen to get them opened. They are some of the cutest toys I have seen in a while.

Instant Flower Press (£9.95): As a child I remember picking flowers from the garden and putting them in my mums flower press and then waiting months until I could check to see if they had dried out. This saves the waiting as you can press flowers in 20 seconds in the microwave. I will admit I got this for me but I can see it being used a lot over the coming years as M gets interested in it. I have tested this quickly to see how it works and found that it took 40-60 seconds to press a batch of flowers so pretty impressive if you ask me!

Hopping Chocolate Frogs - with popping candy (£4.95): I am pregnant. I had cravings. Need I say more?

Within just a few hours of paying these were sent out for delivery and were with us two days later which was superb so even if you are late in remembering about a birthday you still have time to get something sent out.

You can pay by Paypal making it easier and quick and you can also leave a note on delivery instructions so that if you are out it can be delivered to you in a place that you would like it to be put.

Buying a gift

If you are buying presents as a gift you can not only get them gift wrapped with a card (both which you can choose from a fab selection) but also you can send them direct to their home. There is also a birthday reminder service you can sign up to to ensure you don't forget any important dates. They also put relevant gift ideas in the email reminder making the decision on what to buy that bit easier.

  1. I never heard of this company before, the toys looks fantastic. I'll check them out especially the instant flower press (for me). ;)

  2. Yeah the Instant Flower press is defo one for the bigger kids amongst up. I have done nothing but pick and microwave flowers since I got it! No idea what I will be doing with the flowers now I have pressed them but you can never have too many dried flowers surely?

  3. I love the skittles they are so cute, they have given me an idea for my nephews birthday, lovely review x

  4. Awww, these are super cute! I've never heard or seen these before I don't think. Lovely review :) #TriedTested

  5. We have some skittles like that that were bought for D a year or so ago. I love the melissa & doug puzzles too :-)
i didn't like the gender divided search (and certainly didn't like their reasoning behind it) but I did like the age guides xx

  6. This is such a wonderful site....I have reviewed it and will be using it again! :D
