Fun in the winter sun

Enjoying the sun when it is here!

Don't you just love sunny days? We do but when you live in Scotland these are pretty few and far between so the minute the sun shines we get our coats on and head outdoors. Where we live we are very lucky to be right next to a few different nature trails which means M can explore her surroundings in a safe place.

The trail leads from our house to the local park and we are trying to encourage M to walk that bit more and this a great way of doing that - can you find sticks, look at the doggy, can you spy any birdies? She loves it.

What I am excited about is watching the changes of the seasons and as she grows up she will really benefit from the nature trails around her to learn about seasons, plus there are fields around it which we can talk about the plants they are growing or the animals that live there.

Of course no walk along this trail is complete without visiting the park which M loves playing at.

I can't believe the change a year makes. This time last year she could not walk, would only really go on the swings and parks were not of much interest to her. Now, a year on, she gets upset if she doesn't get to visit the park.

She swaps between the equipment as to what her favourite is but in general it is the chute that she goes to first and that she spends the most time on.

I love that I can interact with her more now that I am not pregnant and going to the park doesn't mean standing in pain, or being tired after the walk. I can join in more and have so much more fun with her. Strangely I get so dizzy on the roundabout now which I don't remember being like this before I was pregnant.

I love that M gets excited about gong outdoors and playing and I would love to encourage her to keep fit and be active and to spend more time outside than inside. At the moment we can't stay out for long as she really suffers from the cold and gets upset, even when she is in her snowsuit. Thankfully I took the Tula with me to the park which means I could carry her and wrap my coat round her a bit, transferring my body heat to her!

I really hope this weather continues, although we did have snow on the way home which would explain why she was so cold, as the sun really does improve your mood.

  3. Awww it looks like she had a fab time at the park. What a lovely place to have nearby to you! I would love to come to Scotland. In Cornwall we seem to have nothing but warm blasts of weather and sun. It seriously hasn't dropped below 6 degrees this winter which is crazy, so hearing about other peoples cold is mad! I'd love to have a little cold blast though so we can experience winter a bit more. Thank you so much for sharing your adventures with #whatevertheweather x

    1. It's actually one of the least exciting parks in our area which is a shame as the other towns here have fab parks

    1. You just need to see sun to run and gets shoes and jackets and get out before it turns again.

  6. You guys look like you're having a great time! We love getting out to the parks too and we have been really lucky here in Scotland to have had a dry sunny streak to get out more. I was getting a bit annoyed at the rain previously dominating our lives! Thanks so much for linking up to #Whatevertheweather :) x
