Getting muddy but having fun

Despite the heavy rain that we have been seeing a lot of recently, we decided we would spend a day with family and visit a local transport event at the weekend. We saw a lot of rain, mud and miserable looking visitors but despite the horrid weather we had fun.

We had great plans of sitting watching the arena entertainment but most of that had been cancelled I think as it was just too muddy for it to be safe. Not that we would have sat and watched but we might have stood for a bit. We had our picnic and blanket packed too. Ach well. Nothing wrong with car picnics!

Since it was so muddy and we had a new carrier to try (bought for our holiday so it is cooler for F and small enough to fit in handluggage) I carried F instead of taking the pram. This wasn't as comfy as some, if not most, of the other carrier we have but will be handy for holidays as I can use it for my hand luggage, packing nappies and wipes etc in the front of it. F enjoyed being it and will be much coller than if we took a wrap.

As M has a huge fasication of all things transport this was her idea of heaven. There were cars, buses, tractors, lorries. She was amazed by it all.

Of course no matter how bad the weather was there is always time for ice-cream when you are 2 (and 32!).

It made me realise that there is no need to avoid going out when it rains. All too often I just look at the weather and decide to stay in. Yes we will go out and puddle jump but I just get so put off. Today we got covered in mud, we were wet but we had so much fun.

  1. This looks so much fun! Well done for going out in the mud - children just aren't bothered are they?! We have had a few car picnics recently too, they are great but I am looking forward to the day we can get our picnic blanket out this summer! #CountryKids

  3. It looks like you had the best time exploring the event, it looks like there was plenty to see and do there for you all! My lot always ask if we can stop for ice cream, even if it's pouring with rain. M looks like she's enjoying exploring the event looking at all the different cars.

    Thanks for sharing on #CountryKids.

  4. Glad that you managed to go despite the weather. I too am like that, oh we won't go because it's raining! But with the summer we are currently having, it's either raining or too hot so we'd never leave the house haha! Thanks for linking up with #TwinklyTuesday
