How to wear a summer dress in Scotland - JD Williams review

I am never sure about ordering clothing online as I just never knew what size I am going to be but when you have two kids the thought of going shopping and trying clothing makes online shopping seems so much more appealing. So when I was given the opportunity to review something from the Summer Dress section of the JD Williams website I jumped at the chance!

As I love in Scotland I chose something that I could wear as a summer dress but also something that would not look out of place with a warm cardigan as well. So I chose the Joe Browns Delightful Denim Dress as it seemed a pretty versatile. It retails at £50 which I think is a reasonable price for this dress as I can see it lasting years.

It describes it as ideal for festivals, with practical pockets and a scarf print belt so you can style it your own way. Now whilst I totally agree with it being ideal for festivals and love the belt as you can make it your own, I would disagree with the pockets being practical. I expected them to be really deep but they are in fact really shallow, so much so I was too worried to put my phone in them in case it fell out.

I would say this dress runs to size and fits perfectly. Maybe on the larger size as I often struggle to get shirt styles clothing to fit my bust. That said I am 5ft 3 and, although I have a long body, I would not want the dress to be any shorter.

It was love at first site for me and this dress. It is great quality. I love the details in the buttons and the scarf belt is cute. It does tie up high which I liked but maybe not for everyone.

The dress can be worn as a casual dress, teamed with leggings and Converses or dressed up with wedges. You can wear in in summer as it is, or team up with a nice cosy cardigan and thick tights to be worn in winter. An all year item that never needs leave your wardrobe. Or, if you are in Scotland, an item that can be worn all day, through the snow, rain, wind and then beautiful sunshine! Even in summer you have to consider wearing a cardie in Scotland and I have done just that when at a transport event recently!
