Are gender myths true?

Having both a girl and a boy I have gone back to my pregnancies to work out if gender myths are true or not. Were they right for you when you were pregnant? Is there any truth in them at all.

So with M (a girl)

It's a girl if:

  • You had morning sickness of nausea in early pregnancy
  • You baby's heart rate was 140 beats or more (we only saw it in number a few times and it was!)
  • You are carrying the weight in your hips and rear. Nope all out front for her
  • You are carrying high
  • You are craving sweets barely ever had sweets. Like ham and Philadelphia sandwiches on brown bread
  • You are craving fruit
  • You don’t look quite as good as normal during pregnancy Looked the same.
  • You are moodier than usual during pregnancy
  • You add your age at the time of conception and the number for the month you conceived and the sum is an odd number
So as you can see it is 50/50. We actually went into the operating theatre expecting a boy.

It's a boy if:

  • You didn’t experience morning sickness in early pregnancy
  • Your baby’s heart rate is less than 140 beats per minute As you can see in the picture above, his heartbeat was 144 when they checked it there.
  • You are carrying the extra weight out front
  • Your areolas have darkened considerably
  • You are carrying low High like M.
  • You are craving salty or sour foods
  • You are craving protein — meats and cheese
  • Your feet are colder than they were before pregnancy
  • The hair on your legs has grown faster during pregnancy. Actually stopped growing. Grew much faster with M
  • Your hands are very dry
  • Pregnancy has you looking better than ever
  • You are having headaches
  • You add your age at the time of conception and the number for the month you conceived and the sum is an even number
So again it was 50/50 BUT this pregnancy was much more different than M's so I was 99% sure I was having a boy and I did.

Did you find that gender myths were right for you?

  1. These always make me laugh. I had 3 very different pregnancies and all 3 are boys. Always best to take them with a pinch of salt!
