Testing out the Leesa Mattress

I don't know about you, but one of my favourite times of the day is when you can cosy into bed and get comfy so when  your bed is not as comfy as you hoped this can be a bit of a problem.

We moved into a new home around a year ago and left our comfy and much loved mattress in the house we moved from. This was because we moved gradually without any need to move furniture (we had enough up here) and we also still use the other property so needed furniture there. Our plan was to eventually hire a van and swap stuff about. So we ordered a mattress from another retailer which felt perfectly comfortable at the shop and was an amazing price. For the first month or two it was ideal but then I started waking up with sore shoulders each morning. The pain got worse and worse and just as we were about to hire a van and move out mattress up we got an offer from Leesa about testing out one of their mattresses. Well I couldn't deny the idea of a good night's sleep won over and I agreed.

The process of ordering was simple. Everything is done online, with free delivery (something I was dubious about - how can you buy a mattress when you haven't even tried it out?). After getting our order confirmation we waited a few days more until we got out delivery date. Within about a week our mattress was delivered and we were able to unpack it and use it.

We unboxed the mattress (it comes packaged in a small easy to carry box) and within a few seconds we saw the mattress grow in front of our eyes.

First impressions were good. But we were still worried and moved our old mattress into another room rather than getting rid of it, just incase. Me and hubby were a bit uncertain about it and expected it would be too soft.

I need not have worried as the mattress was one of the comfiest things I have slept in in, well, ever. It was like sleeping in a cloud. We both instantly let out a sign of happiness when we sunk into bed. Although sunk is not the right word. You don't actually sink at all you just get a mattress hug? I don't know how to explain it - it just fits you. The first night I have the best night's sleep for ages but I still woke with pain in my shoulders which was disappointing. It also had a slightly unpleasant odour which still lingers a month on (although we hardly notice it now).

We didn't tell the kids we had a new mattress but when the older two came into bed the next morning and commented, unprompted, about how comfy it was I knew it must be better than the old mattress we had. Now they get so excited to come into bed with us in the morning.

We have now used the mattress for a month and I can honestly say that after months of pain (previous to getting The Leesa) when I woke up every morning (and sometimes all day) I now get out of bed pain free. It took maybe a week for me to realise that I no longer ached each morning and what a relief that is.

Getting into bed is still such a exciting thought and often I end up in there watching TV in the evenings now. I just wish I had had it when I was breastfeeding little O.

Details

The mattress is made up of three layers. A 5cm Avena foam top layer that keeps you cool and gives freedom of movement. A 5cm memory foam layer to relieve pressure and a 15cm dense core to add strength, durability and support.
It comes with a 10 year warranty.

Pros

  • You do not feel other half move when in bed.
  • Comfortable, so so comfortable.
  • 100 days to try it out or money back.
  • Helps ease back and shoulder pain.
  • Suits different people in different ways
  • Keeps you cool in night.

Cons

  • It does have an odour and even having tested it for one month there is a slight odour still present. You do stop noticing it after a while but it does linger for a while.
  • It costs a lot for something you haven't even tested out. I know there is a money back testing guarantee if you don't like it but it is a lot of money to pay upfront for something you might not like.
Would I recommend this? Definitely. Have I been looking at buying a Leesa Pillow after finding this so comfortable to sleep in? YES!
